Paul’s objectives with AESOCrew Room I love aviation and I love teaching English! Aviation skill comes from years of flying training, and years of aviation experience. The same can be said for English language skill. It takes years of practice! I have developed Crew Room to provide Airline Pilots with an excellent opportunity to professionally develop their English skills. Crew room develops your communication skills whilst we discuss interesting, and at times, technical aviation topics. The subject areas will be very familiar to you, but the English terminologies, vocabulary and pronunciations may not be. SPEAK ENGLISH – THINK ENGLISH - DEVELOP ENGLISH In a fun, relaxing and engaging way, with pilot friends! This is what AESOCrew Room is all about!
Paul’s objectives with AESOCrew Room Ensuring dynamic discussion As your interlocutor, I use group discussion skills to ensure the following: • Conversation is shared by all group members • All members are encouraged to give their opinions and share their knowledge. • I will pose many interesting questions to keep the discussion alive. • I will ensure the discussion remains focussed on the topic. • I will introduce expressions and clichés which connect to the topic for your interest. • The latest in Aviation news will also be covered in each session!
Introducing Crew Room Writing Skills All AESO Private and Group members are welcome to submit short writing samples to Paul for assessment. He encourages students to do so if they wish. AESO has a ‘virtual classroom’ in the Edmodo.com On-line Education Service. Here students can lodge writing samples to Paul 24 hours a day. Your samples will be marked and returned to you via Edmodo usually within 48 hours. You may write short stories, articles, reports, etc.
