NATIONAL SERVICE TRAINING PROGRAM PREPARATORY LEADERSHIP UNDERTAKING FOR SOPHOMORESTask-Based Training for LTSGrade 3 NAT Review November 17, 2012 2nd Semester, SY 2011-12
OBJECTIVES At the end of the sessions, students are expected to: • Identify the topics for the 2nd sem • Identify ways to creatively teach these topics • Prepare the necessary materials for the corresponding topics • Review the mechanics of the Pre & Post Tests
PROGRAM FLOW - Opening Prayer - Creative Teaching • Tips from our teachers • Presentation of the topics - CLOSING PRAYER
Pair and share What is creative teaching?
COOPERATIVE LEARNING • Positive interdependence • Individual Accountability • Equal Participation • Simultaneous Interaction
Positive Interdependence The success of every team member is not possible without he success/contribution of the other members.
Individual Accountability To ensure that everyone contributes, no one is a free loader and no one is a work horse.
Equal Participation Everyone is a star! ★
Simultaneous Interaction Everyone can share even in a short span of time!
Let’s try something… - Think of ways to creatively teach children
“Always use references na alam nila. Use pop culture or current events to cite examples or further explain the topic. Favorite ko talaga ang pagrerelate ng seemingly "unrelatable" topics to further explain the point. May extra challenge lang sa pagconceptualize ng talk points kasi hindi pwedeng pilit ang connections.” (From the experience of Smile Indias – BFA ID)
“Prepare activities/ visual aids. Example: Flash/drill cards to help them practice.” (Gyobs Baguio- AHS teacher)
Show something interesting to catch their attention! Show the relation of the lesson to practical daily activities. “Wow effect!” (Geomel Jetonzo, former Science Teacher)
Sample 1: Oops Game! • Arrange the class into 6 columns. After arranging them, ask them to sit down. • When you say “2”, the column 2 will stand up. • Those who are standing will have to answer the question of the teacher. If one student can’t answer the question, the whole group will do a consequence. • You can do variations in this activity (column 3, row 5) - This will help practice the kids to be attentive. It will also help them to prepare before class so that they know what to answer when they’re called. (Michelle Severino, former Math Teacher)
Sample @: Play and Relate Maglaro na parang walang relasyon sa topic. Hal. Charade Pagkatapos ipakita ang koneksyon ng ginawang laro sa topic o leksyon. Advantage: Para masorpresa ang mga bata Unconsciously immersing the students on the topic. (Smile Indias-BFA ID)
Gets? 1. Write 3 things that helped me learn 2. One thing the teacher can do to help me learn more 3. One thing I can do to help myself learn more
