Community Investment Principles • Applications restricted to 15 mile radius of LLWR Site. • Panel review applications, score and agree funding allocation if applicant successful. • Originally 7 Selection criteria, increased to 9 at request of LLWR Working Group members: • - Proximity to LLWR Site - Alignment with NDA Policy • - Match funding - Area of Deprivation/High Need • - Benefit to Wider Community - Raises Profile of LLWR • - Improves the Environment - Impact of Activities • - Sustainability • Top up or Match Funding for Employee Fund Raising Efforts.
Commitments to date • £35K budget per annum • 41% spent to date • 85% in a 5 mile radius of the LLWR site • A further 21% is committed • 22 requests have been processed • 7 within a 5 mile radius • 7 within a 10 mile radius • 4 within a 15 mile radius • 4 employee matched funded initiatives • A further 7 requests are pending
Community Involvement • Maintenance and Erection/Dismantling of Marquee • Drigg Village Hall improvements- technical drawings in support of implementation of development • Jennings Rivers Ride – Generated £4.5K in sponsorship for Cumbria Community Foundation and attracted a further £2K donation to a local charity of LLWR employees choice. • Community Open Day – Saturday 23rd June • Scarecrow competition- harvest festival
