  3. Cleaning the Burette • Rinse with deionised water. • Why? • This removes impurities • Rinse with the solution it will contain. • Why? • This removes any water, which could dilute the solution

  4. Cleaning the Pipette • Rinse with deionised water. • Why? • This removes impurities • Rinse with the solution it will contain. • Why? • This removes any water, which could dilute the solution

  5. Cleaning theConical Flask Rinse with deionised water only. (This removes impurities.)

  6. Preparing the Burette Clamp the burette vertically. Using a funnel, carefully fill the burette with the correct solution to above the 0 mark.

  7. Preparing the Burette Remove funnel, and collect excess solution in a beaker. Observe from eyelevel as you lower the volume until the meniscus sits exactly on the 0cm3 mark

  8. Preparing the Burette Ensure that the jet is filled with solution and that there are no air bubbles trapped.

  9. Using the Pipette Drop the solution into the conical flask and just touch the nozzle off the inside of the flask to ensure full delivery. Using a filler, overfill the pipette and allow the excess to flow out into a beaker until the meniscus sits on the graduation mark.
