Bottom Line up Front- contract is unjustifiable • Four key points • Torrance taxpayers who work in the private sector are paying approximately $90.00 an hour for a single 21 year old STEP 1 • police officer with ahigh school education for working only approximately 1096 HRs • Torrance Police Department (TPD) is a massively top heavy organization. • 1 Key Leader to every 3.3 patrol officers • 1 SGT to every 5.6 patrol officers • All TPD Police Officers are now in the $100,000 CalPERSClub • Under the current contract if a TPO stays in the force and moves to the highest STEP 6 level he will receive a $91,080.45 pension which does not include additional items such as promotions, pay raises, COLA adjustments, incentive pay (K-9).
