  4. Objectives • Determine what constitutes an effective interest approach given oral questions with no errors. • Determine the elements of the presentation given oral questions with no errors. • Create an interest approach for a given subject with all elements present.

  5. What is the Preparation Part of the Lesson Plan? Preparing the Learner to Learn

  6. Three Parts of Preparation • Link – to what the students already know • Motivation – to stimulate interest • Overview – outline of what the lesson is about (statement of objectives)

  7. What should be accomplished with an Interest Approach? • Gain attention of the students. • Draw the attention of the students to a common point. • Create a felt need within students to study subject matter. • Set the stage for the establishment of objectives.

  10. What Is the Presentation Part of the Lesson Plan? The MEAT of What You TEACH!

  11. Presentation • New information and concepts to be taught • Detailed outline of subject matter needed by teacher • List of specific techniques employed to teach the material (demonstration, worksheet, problems, video, chalkboard)

  12. How Detailed Should the Presentation Be? • Detailed enough so that someone trained in AGSC could pick up your plan and teach from it • Include ALL information in the lesson plan And/Or attach the information to the lesson plan • Better to over-plan than under-plan!

  14. Evaluation • What are the three parts of the preparation? • What is an example of an interest approach for you your lesson? • What is the presentation? • How detailed should the presentation be?

  15. Summary • The preparation is important because it gets your students interested in your lesson! • The presentation part is important because it allows you to organize all your thoughts and content to be taught during the lesson.

  18. Future Assignment You will create a complete lesson plan that you will teach in a school. You will also include a discussion paper explaining what you did and why you think it will work.
