  3. Voluntary Contributions • 2012: CHF 35.3 M • 2013: On-track to match 2012 • Strong indication of donor confidence/greaterinvestmentreflectsincreased: • costs of hydromet impacts / hazards • awareness of chronicunderfunding over manyyears • awareness of socio-economicbenefits.

WMO Voluntary Cooperation Programme (VCP) • VCP Support during 2009 – 2012 • CHF 30M in 2012 • 288 individual projects in 78 Member countries; • 83 % of all the requests received supported; • Regions I & II benefited most (most requests) • Focus: expert services; short-term fellowships and training activities; surface observing; telecommunication systems; CDMS and climatological activities; hydrological activities. • http://www.wmo.int/pages/prog/dra/vcp/documents/IPM_2013_Report.pdf

Working in Partnerships to strengthen and sustain NMHS • Who are the major stakeholders of NMHS? • National governments / owning departments • National institutions (academia, research institutes, agencies) • General Public in the respective country • Private sector (nationally and internationally) • Neighbouring countries’ institutions and public • UN (WMO, World Bank and MDB, UNDP…)
