How NICE social care quality standards fit with the existing quality frameworks Quality Benchmarks NICE Quality Standards, Care Audits NICE is developing over-arching quality standards that go beyond the minimum statutory requirements and set out what high quality social care looks like. Providers should aspire to meet these quality standards, which will enable commissioners to plan effective care and care users to ask for a better standard of care and choose providers which will best suit their needs. Tools for Quality Improvement – Quality Charter Marks There are a variety of toolkits and pieces of guidance that exist to help providers develop high quality services, and to support providers in meeting national minimum standards, organisational standards and in improving to the levels set out in the Quality Benchmarks. Underpinned by regulation CQC – Essential Standards, DfE – National Minimum Standards - The Children Act 1989 Providers must comply with these minimum standards as a legal requirement. Commissioners should only purchase services from providers who are fully compliant DH – Leading the nation’s health and care
