Rationale of Network • Facilitate a shared vision and strategy for the SHG movement. • Unified actions and voice for contributing sector development. • To create a conducive policy environment for the SHG movement • To bridge the demand - supply gap, both in resources and capacities. • To promote empowerment outcomes • To share and learn from each other to avoid duplication of efforts

Issues & challenges • Uneven growth and unreached sections and regions • Problems associated with active involvement of Governments in promotion of SHG movement • Quality and sustainable problems • Shortage of quality human resources • Limited capacities of promoter to meet the emerging complex situations

  4. About Enable Vision – Vibrant SHG movement in India Goal Enhanced capacities and resources for SHGs and SHG federations resulting in vibrant institutions and increased economic and social opportunities for all members especially marginalized, vulnerable and poor communities

Focus areas • Engage with top bank officials and orientation of sr. bankers • Engage with GoI and State Governments to remove policy contradictions, if any • Generate resource material in major Indian languages • Interactive platforms to SHG leaders • Capacity building of different stakeholders • Model building/ pilotigs

  8. Expectations from NRLM • Space for NGOs in implementation; especially in models development • Space for resource organizations of repute in State Missions • Design subsidies to encourage higher SHG banking • Role transfer road map/ Space for primary stakeholders in managing their institutions

  9. Enable’s potential role in NRLP • Orientation of bankers • Orientation of higher officials • Generate resource material • TOT and other programs to enhance HR • Models building/ action research • Monitoring and evolution • Identification of good NGOs and preparing them to promote quality SHGs/ federations
