2. Babble • Definition: To say words that cannot be understood • Sentence: When my little brother pretends he is on the phone, he will babble.

3. Suspicious • Definition: If you think someone cannot be trusted, you are suspicious of him. • Sentence: Everyone was suspicious of the man in dark glasses at the party, because no one knew him.

4. Accompany • Definition: When you accompany someone, you go somewhere with them. • Sentence: Our dog would accompany us on a walk everyday if we would let him.

5. Competent • Definition: When you are good at what you are doing. • Sentence: The competent police officer not only saved the boy’s life, but held him till his mother arrived.

6. Scent • Definition: What something smells like. • Sentence: The scent of the flower was interesting to our dog.

7. Wanders • Definition: A person who travels without planning where he or she is going. • Sentence:A man who wanders through the desert without water is foolish.

8. Whined • Definition: Gave a long, high cry. • Sentence: The tired baby whined because he missed his nap.

9. Obey • Definition: To do what you are told to do. • Sentence: Some pets will obey their owner’s every command.

10. Demonstrate • Definition: To show how it works or how it is done. • Sentence: Teachers will often demonstrate a skill before they ask students to do it.

11. Patrol • Definition: To go through an area with the purpose of guarding it. • Sentence: The officers often patrol our neighborhood on bicycles.
