  2. 12 ounces 5 ounces Alcohol Knowledge Refresher • 12oz of Beer • 8oz of Malt Liquor • 5oz of Wine • 1.5oz of 80 proof distilled liquor (vodka, gin, rum, etc.) • 1.2 tablespoons of pure alcohol (ethanol) per standard drink 1.5 ounces

  3. Drink Size Comparison • One “forty” of malt liquor = about 5 standard drinks • One “forty” of reg. beer = about 3.5 standard drinks • 750ml bottle of Hard Alcohol = 17 standard drinks • One bottle of table wine = 5 standard drinks

Performance Issues? • Alcohol dilates blood vessels • Alcohol keeps blood vessels open in penis • Blood goes in = Erection! then drains = limpland • Alcohol is blamed as one of the number one causes of erectile dysfunction • Ladies, you’re not off the hook! • Same principle as men, blood vessels dilate, blood flows in then right back out • Lubrication issues possible as well • Orgasms and performance, greatly impacted!

  15. Going For It Anyways? • Keep this in mind… • Those who binge drink are more likely to engage in unprotected and risky sexual activities • Multiple partners • Anal Sex • Less likely to use a condom • Numerous cases of STI’s and STD’s are linked to alcohol use • 67% of Unplanned Pregnancies

  16. Actual Condom Use - National • 3.1% of sexually active students mostly or always used a condom during oral sex. • 50.9% of sexually active students mostly or always used a condom during vaginal sex. • 28.0% of sexually active students mostly or always used a condom during anal sex.

Dangers of Alcohol & Sex • 40 percent of convicted rape and sexual assault offenders said that they were drinking at the time of their crime. • In 2002, more than 70,000 students between the ages of 18 and 24 were victims of alcohol-related sexual assault in the U.S. • Alcohol use is frequently associated with violence between intimate partners. Two-thirds of victims of intimate partner violence reported that alcohol was involved in the incident.

Alcohol & Other Life Aspects • Muscularity Effects • Alcohol affects sleep, your muscles need sleep to grow, hence muscle development decreases • Alcohol can decrease natural HGH secretion by 70% • HGH tells muscles to repair and grow • Alcohol triggers liver to secrete a substance that is toxic to testosterone • Alcohol disrupts water balance in cells • Affects ATP production which is “muscle energy”

Final Thoughts • Avoid sex under the influence • Consent, from a legal standpoint, can not be given from a person under the influence of drugs / alcohol • Be Safe • Drink in moderation, maximum 1 drink per hour • Use a condom every time, no exceptions • Go out in groups and never leave alone • Watch your drinks! • Eat nutritious foods before and after drinking
