Why a RIS ? • Global routing behavior affects I(S)P service • Distant routing problems are difficult to diagnose • ‘Routing quality’ of neighbors is difficult to assess • Destination based routing provides ‘one-way-only’ control & diagnostics • Looking glasses are a crude tool to cover the ‘other direction’

  4. What is RIS? • “Looking Glass on Drugs” • Multiple route collectors integrate multiple views • Database provides access to more than just instantaneous data • Database supports various (longer term) analysis products • Multiple collectors and database enable complex analysis products

  8. Raw Database Query • Main Parameters • RRC • AS# or IP Address • Time Period • Example: www.apnic.net at LINX (London) • note query for /32 Address possible • returns routes containing Address • output starts with routing table dump, then updates Live Example
