The project includes: • five 6th-grade classroom clusters, • three 7th-grade classroom clusters, • three 8th-grade classroom clusters, • core areas, specialized core areas, special education areas, support functional areas, and exterior facilities that include a 400m track, football and soccer field with announcer’s booth & grandstand, softball field, pool house & 25 meter pool, exterior field lighting, and other features.
Organizational Changes • All 6th grade students will attend a middle school • All elementary schools will become Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten to 5th • Bob Hope Primary School will become Pre-Kindergarten – 2nd grade; Amelia Earhart Intermediate School will become 3rd – 5th grade.
6th Grade Transition Schools in line with DoDEA Curricular Recommendations More space available in the elementary schools Elementary schools have prefab buildings that will have to be removed in the future
Zoning - Contributing Factors The addition of the new middle school makes SY 08-09 zoning changes necessary. On base housing renovations, demographic shifts in off-base occupancy and future restructuring of the military on Okinawa contribute to the challenges associated with the rezoning process. Students with parents from all branches of service could possibly be zoned for this school.
