Update on 2011-12 Annual Distance Education Survey • Survey is complete with all colleges reporting • One component of bi-annual report to the Board of Governors in 2013 • Survey highlights
Survey Highlights • New courses that did not exist before and are only delivered by distance education? • 82 Colleges indicated there were zero courses in this category • 21 Colleges indicated they created 85 courses • 11 Colleges did not respond to the question
Survey Highlights • Existing courses that were converted from face to face to distance education • 19 Colleges did not convert any courses • 88 Colleges converted 897 courses to distance education courses

Survey Highlights • In 2009-10 did your college offer an AA or AS degree or a Certificate of Achievement program where the student could complete the program 100% through distance education? • 55 Colleges indicated that they do • This is up 11 colleges from last year
Survey Highlights • Has you college developed streamlined educational pathway policies/activities for distance education students? • 16 colleges indicated they have (29.1%) • This is up from zero from last year • 39 colleges indicated they have not 70.9%
Quality Distance Education Program Webinar • Webinar date is December 10, 2012 from 9:00 AM – 12:00 Noon • Scheduled 3 hour system-wide webinar on operating a quality DE program in the California Community College (CCC) System • Must register to receive login information
Quality Distance Education Program Webinar • Designed to provide colleges with comprehensive information about regulations, policies, and procedures impacting distance education programs in the CCC System • The webinar will be targeted to CIO’s, District/College DE Coordinators, other curriculum officials, and individuals responsible for attendance accounting and reporting at each district.
Quality Distance Education Program Webinar • The webinar will address established DE standards, quality components, and things that districts should have in place to have a quality DE program. • It will also cover the technical attendance accounting side of DE and potential annual audit implications.
Quality Distance Education Program Webinar • The webinar will feature presentations by local DE programs that speak first-hand to best practices and DE quality control processes

Fund for Instructional Improvement Loan Request for Proposal Release • Release is October 22, 2012 • Due date is January 22, 2013 • Covers Fiscal Years 2012-13 and 2013-14 • $302,000 available in each Fiscal Year • Zero percent interest • 3 year repayments begin 1 year after the program year of the loan • Can be used for instructional related revenue generating strategies
