Youneedtoenterachatroombeforeyoucouldchattoother computerusers.AchatroomisasectiononanInternetserver thatallowsyoutochatwithoneanother.Anyoneinthechat roomcanparticipateintheconversationwhichisusuallyaboutaparticulartopic.Somechatroomssupport voicechats,andvideochatswhereinyoucanhearandseeeachotherwhilechatting. Thevalueofchatdependsonhowyouuseit.Chattingisagoodwaytomakefriends,meetacquaintances, exploreothercultures,keepintouchwithfamilyorrelativesandexchangeallsortsofinformation.Chat, though,cangetwildanddisorderly.Anybodycantakeonanypersona.Thisiswhyadultsupervisionis neededwhenchildrenengageinanyformofchatontheNet. TherearebasicallytwotypesofInternetchats:theWeb-basedchatandtheIRCorInternetRelayChat. TimetoChat! Youneedtoconnecttoachatserverthroughachatclientbeforeyoucouldstartachatsession.Achatclient isaprogramonyourcomputerthatisusuallyprovidedbyyourbrowsers.Youcaneasilydownloadachat clientifyourbrowserdoesnotsupportone.Althoughsomechatclientsaretext-based,thereareotherclients whosupportgraphicalchatswheretheuserscanassumetheappearanceofacertainfictitiouscharacter. Thepersonwhoestablishesachatroomservesastheoperatorandhastheresponsibilityinmonitoringthe conversationanddisconnectinganyonewhobecomesdisruptiveandoffensive. Emoticonsareusedine-mailandotherformsofcommunicationusingcomputerssuchaschatting.Themost popularemoticonisthesmilingface(smiley).Ifyoudon'tseethatitrepresentsasmilingface,tipyourhead totheleftandlookatitagain.Thecolonrepresentstheeyes,thedashrepresentsthenose,andtheright parenthesisrepresentsthemouth.Theseemoticonsshowanemotionthroughanicon. AddingFriendstoyourYahoo!List AFriendListisalistofyourfriends,family,andassociateswhoalsouseYahoo!Messengerandotherservices ofYahoo!.Youcanchatwithanyoneonyourlistaslongastheyareconnectedinanyservicesprovidedby Yahoo!.
