  2. Kit Fox Description • Length- adult male- 15-20” • Weight- adult 3-4 lbs • Coloring – pale gray, tan or sandy with a slightly darker back. It has a cream colored throat, belly, and inner ears. • Special features- About 9-12” tail, a dark patch is always located on each side of the nose. The tail has a dark tip.

Kit Fox Adaptations • A Kit Fox is adapted for getting food by using their keen sight and hearing senses. • A Kit Fox is adapted for eating food by using their teeth for tearing and chewing food. • A Kit Fox is adapted for protecting itself from other animals by attacking their enemies. • A Kit Fox maintains its body temperature by using their fur to keep itself warm.

  7. Interesting Facts they live in caves with keyhole shaped entrances. They sometimes live in rodent dens that they enlarge. If there is any disturbance in their den, they immediately move to a new one. They start breeding in December through February.
