Objectives • From my auditing I have highlighted gaps within the recycling facilities, I need to be provided with the resources to improve this. This includes more bins and bin labels to enable us to do this. • The bins across campus need to be the same everywhere to prevent confusion and discouragement of recycling. • We need to be provided with an option to recycle; this means removing all the single waste bins and replacing them with the new four set recycling bins throughout the whole of our campus, inside and out.
What have I achieved already? • Some of the recycling bins have been re-labelled and are up to date with the correct information. • A recycling stall was set up for Go Green Week. • I have improved recycling information by putting up more posters around the university campus about what you can and cant recycle at UWE.
Benefits to the university and its students • Bristol Green Capital. • To keep on track with the universities environmental policies. • To encourage behaviour change at home for students. • Reduce waste to landfill. • Generating income by selling waste. • The university can show case how green it is around Bristol and nationwide.
How to achieve our objectives • Regular recycling stall to encourage everyone to recycle. • Recycling boards in student halls to engage and inform students of the benefits of recycling. To achieve this we need information from sustainability about what happens to UWE’s recycling. • Recycling video to be created so it can be played at the fresher's fair and put onto the website. • Research into the possibility into having food waste bins in the catering units for students. • Re-designing the bin storage areas in student accommodation.
