As much as you would never leave the house in the morning without brushing your teeth, make sure too to not forget brushing before going to bed.
Happening In Your Mouth • When you’re asleep, a lot is happening in your mouth. Bacteria lurking on your teeth can build up and form plaque, tartar, and cavities. • Your saliva can help get rid of these harmful food debris. Unfortunately during this time, your mouth turns dry and there is almost no saliva produced. • You can, however, stop bacteria from wreaking havoc to your teeth and gums with the help of these tips below.
Make No Excuses, Brush Before Bedtime. • For an overnight dental protection, you need only two minutes of your time before going to bed. • Push yourself to brush your teeth until it becomes ingrained in your system.
Back Up, Floss. • Brushing may not be enough to remove food debris so it’s also good if you can follow it up with flossing. • It’s better too that you deal with these food particles while they are soft because once they harden, you can no longer do the cleaning yourself. • You will need a dentist to do that for you.
Brush Properly. • Get the most out of your daily brushing. Move your brush back and forth in short strokes, starting with the surfaces of your teeth, inwards, and then on surfaces of your teeth that you use for chewing. • Afterward, you can move at the back of your teeth, still working your way gently, stroking your brush up and down. If you think that your toothbrush isn’t enough to do the cleaning, then consider moving to an electronic toothbrush. • Make sure though that you’re comfortable with your electronic brush.
Beware Of Teeth Grinding. • Teeth grinding can lead to increased tooth sensitivity and worn tooth enamel. • If no one is around to wake you up and tell you you’re grinding your teeth again, your best move is to get yourself a mouth guard. • Then you can protect yourself from this habit that’s hard to do away from.
See Your Dentist Regularly. • Prevention is better than cure. Schedule regular appointments with your dentist for a dental checkup and cleaning too. • More than achieving pearly white teeth's and fresh breath, taking care of your dental health also means taking care of your overall health.
Safeguarding Your Overall Health. • Bacteria thrive in your mouth but you can keep them from causing you harm by ensuring good oral hygiene. • By maintaining good oral hygiene routine, you not just protect your mouth. You’re also safeguarding your overall health.
