How Dentist Fix Cavities

Cavities are also known as dental caries, and are tiny holes in the surface of the teeth caused by decay. They are caused by the action of bacteria that live in the mouth and produce acid that eats away at the enamel and dentin of the tooth. Cavities can lead to pain, sensitivity, and other oral health problems if left untreated. Regular brushing, flossing, and dental check-ups can help prevent cavities.

  1. How Dentist Fix Cavities Cavities are also known as dental caries, and are tiny holes in the surface of the teeth caused by decay. If you’ve ever had a cavity, then you know how uncomfortable and painful it can be. Fortunately, there are ways to fix cavities so that your teeth stay healthy and strong. Here’s what you need to know about how dentist fix cavities. In more severe cases, a crown or other restoration may be necessary. The exact treatment will depend on the extent of the decay and the location of the cavity. The first step in fixing a cavity is for the dentist to remove any decay from the tooth. This is done using special tools like drills or lasers that break up the decayed material and allow it to be removed safely without damaging the surrounding healthy tissue. Once all of the decay has been removed, they will fill in the hole with either an amalgam (silver) filling or a composite (tooth-coloured) filling depending on where it is located in your mouth.

  2. After this process is complete, they may also recommend additional treatments such as fluoride treatments or sealants which help protect against future cavities by making it harder for bacteria to stick around on your teeth and cause more damage down the line. Finally, if necessary, your dentist may also suggest crowns or other restorative procedures if they feel that these would be beneficial for restoring strength and function back into damaged teeth due to extensive decay or trauma caused by injury or grinding habits over time. Overall, fixing cavities isn’t something anyone looks forward too but luckily modern dentistry makes this process much easier than before! With proper care at home combined with regular check-ups at the dental clinic every six months – you can keep those pesky cavities away!
