  13. Our work thus far…We listened to members • GBN interviews with current & past JL Leaders • 2006 quantitative member research • Dialogues at Fall Leadership & Winter Leadership • Scenario Planning session at Annual Conference • Post Annual Conference survey

Key internal messages… • Junior League Leaders want to… • Be respected leaders in the community • Develop friendships with other remarkable women • Make an impact, locally • Receive and provide training at the League member level • Harness the power of association for every single woman • Deliver a consistent experience across all Leagues • Create a flexible organization • Connect the different generations of members

  15. Our work thus far…We learned from many external sources • GBN interviews with experts on women, millennials, community development, volunteering • Board exploration and research • Other volunteer organizations • Other women’s organizations • Technology • Leadership development

Key external trends were… • A broadening definition of community • A new definition of status – from “who you know” to “what you know” • More women working • More opportunities for women’s leadership training • A proliferation of nonprofits • New models of community service • A merging of business & community service

  19. A Vision Defined A ‘vision’ is a description of the organization as you WANT it to be… seeing the optimal future for the organization. It is best when it is MEMORABLE and INSPIRING.
