It is a land where history, legends and magical tales are blended together with scenic Scottish countryside, fairytale castles and wild open places. But where is this beautiful country? ItisboundedbytheNorthSeatotheeast, theAtlanticOceantothenorthandwestandIrishSeatothesouthwest. Scotland The national flag of Scotland is the cross of St. Andrew, also known as the Saltire. It is made up of a great white cross which spans diagonally across the flag on a blue background.

  4. Each ‘clan’ (Scottish word for ‘family’) has its own tartan (woolen material with coloured square designs) and on special occasions they wear traditional Scottish costume which consist of the famous ‘kilt’ (skirt) and special accessories.

  7. Edinburgh The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. It is the cultural centre of the country and one of the most romantic cities in the world.

Balmoral Castle in Aberdeen is known as the British royal residence in Scotland and it’s favourite residence for The Queen and her family during the summer holiday period in August and September. The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Queen’s residence when she is in Edinburgh, with the apartaments of Mary Stuart and Bonny Prince Charlie.

  10. Glasgow Glasgow is the largest city of the U.K. after London and Birmingham, and Scotland’s industrial capital. Shipbuilding is the leading industry. But other industries such as iron and steel, engineering and coal-mining are highly developed too.
