AIP 9 (Action 6B Partial) Update New Technology Mario Harley DTTS PMO Mario.Harley@navy.mil January 25, 2005
Tasks (Action 6B Partial) • Explore new tracking and sensing/intrusion technologies and techniques to further enhance the AA&E end-to-end distribution process worldwide based on the threat, risks and vulnerability assessments
Key Participants (Action 6B Partial) • Organizations that we need input and/or assistance from: • USTRANSCOM: Resources, Doctrine updates • Military Services: Execution funding and consensus on technology recommendations • DLA & DCMA: Execution funding and consensus on technology recommendations • ATA & NDTA: Research (ATA), consensus for industry • DOT FMCSA: Synchronization of technology initiatives focused upon commercial carriers
Current Progress (Action 6B Partial – Untethered Trailer Tracking (UTT)) • Steps taken in support of this AIP: • Received test units from 3 vendors • Initiated Operational Coverage validation • Measuring vendor network latency • Developing a proposed performance specification • Developing proposed dataflow architecture
Technology Being Tested • Exterior View Skybitz’s: Mobile Terminal Vistar’s: Global Wave QUALCOMM’S: T2 • Antenna Mount • Interior View
Next Steps (Action 6B Partial) • Based upon the current progress of the AIP, the next steps are: • Scheduling Feb meetings to present draft performance specification options for technology vendors to provide cost matrix • Continue Operational Coverage validation (northern regions) • Conduct formal testing utilizing ambient light and/or door opening sensors • Validate/certify vendor/s • Validate/certify technology • Establish network connectivity with technology vendor/s • Publish performance specifications in the MFTRP
Issues and Questions (Action 6B Partial) • Issues for the Working Group meeting: (if any) • Applicability of UTT • CAT I • CAT II • All box van shipments • Coverage requirement • Ubiquitous • 80% or 90% CONUS • Alaska
