Title Page • Go to the first page in your notebook.. This is your TITLE PAGE. • Create a name for your Interactive Notebook.. Draw pictures that describe you… this is YOUR page. • Also Include • period that you haveUS History • The school year:2011-2012 • Your teacher:Mr. Levine • Your name:(Please know this…)
TABLE OF CONTENTS Paste the table of contents pages, in the proper order, on pages 2 and 3 of your notebook.
Thinking Maps • After the Table of Contents is glued in, glue the Thinking Maps insert onto the 4th page in your notebook. • You should refer to this page if you need help remembering how to use a certain Thinking Map.
Page Numbers • Now we will enter the page numbers. • Begin with the number 0 in the upper corner of the left side page (behind the thinking maps). Then write the number 1 on the upper corner of the right hand side page • Continue numbering 0- 51… Be sure that every left side page should be an even number, every odd number should be on the right hand side of the paper.
How to use our notebook…. • The notebook is divided into two sections… the right side and the left side.
The notebook is divided into TWO sections. Left Side-Right Side: WHICH SIDE? • The Left SIDE “LOVES” student work. This is the side that you can use to show me your creativity. This is the In/Out, output or product side. • The Right side is “RESTRICTED” and contains only information given by Mr. Levine. It is the Through side and contains notes.
LEFT side “loves” STUDENT work = OUTPUT RIGHT side is “restricted” to TEACHER INPUT WARMUP #1 Fill in the missing word. Decomposer Producer Consumer Plants are ____. Lions, tigers, and bears are ____. Worms and mushrooms are____ The notebook is divided into TWO sections.
LEFT SIDE: YOUR SIDE • The LEFT SIDE belongs to you. • On this page you may include diagrams, cartoons, drawings, poems, foldables, etc. Let your CREATIVITY go wild! • The left side loves color. EVEN PAGES = 2,4,6,8…YOU GOT IT..

WARM-UP #1 Fill in the missing word. Decomposer Producers Consumers Plants are _________. Lions, tigers, and bears are ________. Worms and mushrooms are_________ The TOP of the left side is referred to as the WARM-UP. This “warm-up” is either on the whiteboard or on PowerPoint. It acts as a review before the start of class and should be completed within the first FIVE minutes of class. The warm up should only use a couple of lines.
The day’s activity is placed on the LEFT or OUT side of the notebook. This section acts as a reinforcement and processing for the RIGHT or THROUGH side. LEFT SIDE

RIGHT SIDE: MY SIDE • The RIGHT SIDE belongs to me and should only contain information given or “input” from Mr. Levine. Nothing else should be placed on this page! • The RIGHT SIDE contains all the TESTABLE material. Odd Pages = 1,3,5,7..YOU KNOW IT.
RIGHT SIDE The RIGHT side of the notebook contains information given to you by Mr. Levine. This is the ESSENTIAL information that will DEFINITELY be on a quiz or test. Nothing else should go on this side.
