What is Ad Hoc Commission 2? • Convention ‘09 – 1st Ad Hoc Commission (AHC1) presents 80 improvements that are implemented across the Synod • Convention ’13 – AHC2 is chartered to “Look at all areas of synod structure and programs, especially in areas not addressed by the previous commission.”
Membership • Appointed members of Ad Hoc Commission 2 • Dan Brands, Jon Buchholz, Harvey Dunn, Warren Ehlke, Michael Hein, Duane Rodewald, Tom Unke, Joel Voss • ex officio: Jim Huebner and Mark Schroeder
AHC2 Determined Goals • Enable synod leadership to carry out the mission of the synod effectively, in keeping with adopted priorities and strategic plan • Endorse specific areas of ministry to encourage, expand, or enhance efforts & programs • Identify areas of concern and direct to appropriate groups for attention and action
AHC2 Determined Goals • Identify areas to reduce or eliminate. • Identify specific efforts & programs that might merge or cooperate for a single purpose. • Encourage divisions of the synod to explore innovation & forward-thinking to meet opportunities for gospel ministry in the future.
Approach To Date • AHC2 has met with synod leadership • CFO, HR, PAC, BME, CLS, NPH, Ministry of Christian Giving, etc. for informed input • AHC2 connected with synod workers • Survey resulted in nearly 200 comments, questions, suggestions, and ideas • Analyzed & considered for further action
AHC2 Next Steps • Continue researching areas that have been identified for referral or action • Rejoice, with the synod in convention, the many examples of the Lord’s gracious blessings on our church body • Bring recommendations to the synod convention for further discussion, direction and decisions
