Vision for Art Business To create a multiple body of work that can be sold as originals as well as reproduction items for further sales
Idea Comparison • When building software: • I build one main idea or product. • Sell copies of the product to customers • Modify or customize product areas to fit into niche market sales. The same will apply to artwork. • I create a line of originals • Sell copies of the product to customers • Modify or customize product areas to fit into niche market sales.
Create original or base products (artwork) • Oil Paintings • Target Area – High income level. • Oil paintings sell for larger amounts than other medium types with the exception of three dimensional work. • Pros- Fantastic medium, more galleries accept oils than less traditional mediums, and people are aware of the medium and wish to purchase oil on canvas paintings, larger amounts of money in return for paintings. • Cons- Very long drying time, time consuming medium to work with, and clients must pay larger amounts of money for products. Steps This area will outline the steps I have thought through for creating midpoint sales vs. selling originals
Create original or base products (artwork) • Prismacolors / Mixed Media • Target Area – Mid income level. • Prismicolors are not as recognized by buyers. It’s very much like a color pencil, only it has a very pigment filled waxy base that is applied in layers onto watercolor paper, then blended with a top coat of clear or white to merge color layers. Other mediums such as acrylics may be added. • Pros- Crisp medium that can be produced quickly. No drying time. Less upfront cost on materials. Less costly to customers. • Cons- Not as well known of a medium, less profit. Medium is not always sought after by galleries due to little knowledge or previous artist standards. Steps This area will outline the steps I have thought through for creating midpoint sales vs. selling originals
