Where it all began. Sony was created under the name Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Corporation in 1946. In 1958 the name changed to the Sony Corporation.

Where it all began • Sony was created under the name Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo Corporation in 1946. In 1958 the name changed to the Sony Corporation. • The BBC was founded as the British Broadcasting Company Ltd in 1922, that same year John Reith, one of its founding members, became its general manager.
Outlets • The BBC has a number of channels. Most dedicated to entertainment programs but they have a few centered around delivering news and the days events in parliament. BBC produce original programs ranging from adult dramas to children’s comedy, because of this they are one of the most popular channels in the UK. They also help produce films that are related to the BBC, such as a movie version of a BBC tv show or a British production for instance. • Sony’s outlets are far different. As they aren’t a television network they don’t have as much day to day communication with the general public the way BBC does. They broadcast in a different way. Sony have a production company which makes big budget Hollywood movies including the Spiderman franchise and the Smurfs. They also have Sony Music, a record label with many high profile artists such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncé and Justin Timberlake. Sony primarily focus on the production televisions, cameras and laptops. They are considered one of the top technology companies in the world.
Funding • The BBC is funded by the taxpayers of the UK. It has a license fee of £140.50. • Sony however is funded by the share holders and new investors. It is also funded by its capital that year.
