Public-Private Partnerships: What is in it for Business? Recent catastrophic events have made it clear that government cannot do it alone. Business can assist with the preparation, response, and recovery process. Private industry controls 85% of critical infrastructure and Business wants to be part of the solution. Businesses are part of the Community! Businesses have business continuity plans but they also understand they need to assist with community continuity plans: SNS, hurricanes, earthquakes, Pan Flu.

What is a Point of Dispensing (POD)? A site where medications or vaccines intended to prevent disease may be given quicklyto a large numberof people in the event of a public health emergency. • They are NOT Hospitals! Hospitals will need to be available to care for those who are already ill or symptomatic. Dispensing Sites are NOT for those who are sick.
Modalities of Dispensing • Pull vs. Push • Traditional points of dispensing (POD) are cornerstone (Pull) • Alternate modalities to complement PODs (Push) • Postal Plan – buys time, allows sheltering in place • MedKit – at home kits • Pre-deployed community caches for large populations • Closed PODS
