Tickets • Tickets for the London 2012 Olympic Games go on sale in 2011 • At least 50% will be priced under £20 (350 EEK) • London will aim to repeat the success of the Manchester Commonwealth Games, where 90 per cent of seats were sold • Each ticket will also include free travel on public transport in London for the day of the event • There will be free events - including the Road Cycling, Triathlon and Marathon
Funding • Thetotalbugdetis£9,4 billion (159 billion EEK) • Money comesfrom: • 64% (£6 billion) fromCentralGovernment • 23% (£2,2 billion) from National Lottery • 13% (£1,2 billion) from the Mayor of London and the London Development Agency • The costs for staging the Games (£2 billion) are funded by a combination of sponsorship, merchandising, ticketing and broadcast rights • The budget is raised and managed by the London 2012 Organising Committee
Athletes • Nations participating: 205 (204 in Beijing) • Athletes participating: 12 500 (11 025 in Beijing) • The OlympicVillage will have 17320 beds and provide each athlete with 16sqm floor space • Each apartment will have a TV, internet access, a private courtyard • The dining hall will cater for 5500 athletes at a time • 93 per cent of training venues are to be within 30 minutes of the athletes village
Logo • Early public reaction to the logo, as measured by a poll on the BBC website, was largely negative: more than 80% of votes gave the logo the lowest possible rating • Several newspapers have run their own logo competitions, displaying alternative versionsfrom their readers • Official movie clip with this logo is reported to trigger seizures in a small number of people with photosensitive epilepsy
