  7. Behavior Plan First Graders shall observe the behavior rules established by the Creekside Forest Elementary Staff. These rules are listed in the student’s STAR folders and are posted in all classrooms. They are expected to follow these rules wherever they go (hallways, restrooms, lunch, recess, specials, etc.). This year our theme is based on the Winter Olympics so students begin each day with their clip on the star. This means that they are having a good day and they are a star student. Students that exhibit excellent behavior will move their clip to the “Winner” spot as they earn the gold color.

  8. Behavior Plan Continued… If the rules are not followed the teacher will proceed through the following steps: Step 1- Two verbal or non-verbal reminders. Step 2- Move clip to the “Silver” runner-up spot and lose 5 minutes of recess as they have think time.Students may redeem themselves by showing a conscious effort to improve their behavior and have their clip moved back to “star student”. Step 3- Move clip to the “Bronze” 3rd place spot and lose 10 minutes of recess. Step 4- Move clip to the “Black” on the game over spot and lose all of their recess. In the case of extreme discipline problems the teacher may elect to send or escort students directly to the office (examples: Disrespect to the teacher or another adult, hitting, fighting, etc.)

  9. Key concepts are evaluated each grading period based on teacher observation. A report card is issued which documents the student’s progress on each concept. Authentic assessment tools are utilized to determine progress. This grading scale is used for all core and non-core subjects at K-1.

  10. Homework A homework folder will be sent home every Monday. It will include: • Spelling Activity Choices • Math Activity Choices • A weekly spelling word list • Homework journal Please send these folders back in with your child by Friday. If your student will not be in on Friday, you may send it in on Thursday.

  11. Attendance • Please remember that your child’s attendance is key for them to succeed. • Traveling will be considered an “unexcused absence.” • Make up work will be completed on their return. • If your child is absent, please send in an absentee note with them the day they return.

  12. Policies/ Procedures • If there is a change in transportation for your child, please send a SIGNED and DATED note with your child’s FULL NAME written on it, or fax a note to the front office with copy of ID, followed by a phone call to confirm receipt. • Dress Code – Please read student handbook to review school dress code policies.

  13. Birthdays We love celebrating Birthdays! Creekside Policy states that if parents want to provide a treat to celebrate their child's birthday we ask that you buy ice cream passes for the students from our school cafeteria.

  14. Snacks/Lunch • The children are allowed to bring a healthy snack or send in extra snack money to buy a snack during lunchtime to have for the afternoon snack. • Students may bring a water bottle for class with their name on it. Please make sure it has a pop-top, not screw on lids. If it sweats, please send a koozie. • Please send lunch money in a snack size baggie or other small container labeled with your child’s name; however, the easiest thing to do is keep money in child’s lunch account.
