Have Your Say About the HSA Results of the 2012 survey
92 people completed the survey from the 179 families who have children at Manland • Of those that gave their personal details, 45% had one child at Manland and 55% had two Who responded to the survey?
Question 1 - Number of fundraising activitiesIn a typical year, Manland HSA runs two fetes, two adult social events, two children's discos, one sponsored event for the children, plus a number of other activities such as Phil the Bag (textile collections for recycling) and providing refreshments at school events. Do you think there are too many fundraising activities, too few activities, or about the right number of activities? “It's quite a few, but bearing in mind the support that schools need, it's probably about right!” Theme: need for clear criteria on which events are run, e.g. profitability & fun for kids
Question 2 – Use of the money from fundraisingOver the last few years, money raised by the HSA has funded projects including curtains, stage and sound equipment for the hall, projectors for the classrooms, outdoor playground equipment, the wildlife area, library books, ICT equipment and souvenirs for the children. How satisfied are you that these projects represent good use of the money earned from fundraising? “Sounds very good use of the funds” Theme: basic items should be covered by the school / local authority
Question 3 – Fundraising target for next yearOver the past four years, the HSA has raised an average of £10K per annum. In 2011/12 we had our greatest success, raising £18K by working together with Sir John Lawes PTA to hold the Festival on the Field event. What do you think our fundraising target should be for the year ahead? Theme 1: target depends on whether we run Festival on the Field this year Theme 2: target depends on whether we have more volunteers to share work
Question 4 – Fundraising prioritiesIn your opinion, what type of fundraising activities should be our main priorities for the year ahead? Theme: More feedback on how much events raise and how funds are spent
Question 5 – Getting more involved in fundraisingHow interested would you be in getting more involved in fundraising activities at your child's school in the year ahead?
Question 6 – Barriers to volunteeringWe would like to make it easy for you to volunteer. What, if anything, holds you back from joining the fundraising team or helping with fundraising activities? “I already help out with HSA, but work commitments limit my activity” Theme: need for a range of volunteering opportunities, e.g. flexible approach to helping at different events and at different times
Question 7 – How you hear about the HSA How do you tend to receive information about HSA activities? Theme: improve and enhance the HSA notice board
Lots of suggestions for specific events - most frequently mentioned: Christmas / Summer Ball Question 8 – Fundraising prioritiesHave you any fundraising ideas you would particularly like to see take place? Is there any way you could support new activities? And, if so, in which way?
Theme: Comments of thanks and appreciation to the HSA Question 9 – Do you have any further comments?
