Anachronism • Anachronism is an error in chronology, or placing an event, person, item, or language expression in the wrong period. • Example in Literature: Brutus: Peace! count the clock.Cassius: The clock has stricken three.Act II, scene i : lines 193 – 194 • This is an example of Anachronism because there were no clocks during Roman times, and the striking clock was not invented until 1,400 years after Caesar’s death.
Parody • A parody is a text that imitates another work or Genre in order to entertain an Audience. • Example: Weird Al Yankovich creates many parodies such as Amish Paradise for Gangsta Paradise • Here is an example of a parody of Taylor Swift’s “I knew You Were Trouble.”
Malapropism When someone uses the wrong word while trying to get their point across. Often the word will have a similar sound.
