Athens: Your Starting Point • You are a runner, a message bearer in service to the City of Athens. You have been given orders to carry message to a far off city you have never been to before; Sparta. • The message is very important without the Army from Sparta, Athens will surely fall to the invading enemy.Hurry…. Begin Your Journey…
The City Gates • You stand with the City gates at your back, which path will you choose?
The City Gates • You have return to Athens, which path will you choose?
The Northern Path • You come upon a small wood, your path splits. The first path leads into the wood, the second around and slightly east.
The Western Path The Western path is a solitary path through the hills. Beware Bandits!
The Southern Path • The Southern path leads you around the city walls but before meeting the coast once more splits into multiple paths.
Hugging the Coast • You come upon Pireasus, the mighty port of Athens. You have been here before and know that this is not the way. You turn around and continue on your journey.
The Woods • Slowly you creep through the woods. The branches close around you. Are you sure you want to keep going?
Northwards you Go. • The Woods are behind you. A city looms in the distance, your pace quickens. Could this be your destination?
Thebes • As you approach the gate you are stopped by the Guards. After a brief conversation you are turned away. This is not Sparta but Thebes.
The Gates of Thebes • You have two options before you. Retrace your steps to Athens or take the Western Path before you.
West from Thebes • Not to far away from Thebes another city can be seen from the horizon. Continue?
The Approach • As you approach the next city, you can see a massive temple. As you come closer your over hear conversation about the Oracle and the Temple of Apollo. Your quest must continue… this is Delphi not Sparta. A path turns South…
Over Hill and Dale • This path twists and turns through the hills and lush landscape. You are lost. Do you attempt to push on or retrace your steps?
The Plains Pushing on was the right decision. The Hills are now behind you. To the North you can see the outline of a travelling caravan, a fellow traveller has described a city to the South and the path in front of you continues into the horizon.
The Crossroads You have returned, which way now? The Hills are now east of you. To the North you can see the outline of a travelling caravan, a fellow traveller has described a city to the South and the path in front of you continues into the horizon.
The Caravan • You have come upon a traveling caravan, you quickly chase down the leader of the caravan and ask where he is going. “Why this caravan is destined for Corinth, but we come from the greatest port in all of Greece. Are you to join us friend?” he replies. You are on the wrong path…
A City in the Distance • You follow the travellers advice and turn South, soon enough you come upon a dazzling port spread out in front of you. In complete disarray you stumble inside the city and straight into a column of soldiers. You are thrown out of the City and banned hence forth from the Port of Argos.
Where to go next? • You turn from the next path and take a seat on the road, to reflect on your travels.
Failure…? • Have you failed your task? You cannot find Sparta, although you seem to have visited most of the cities in Greece, soon enough the sound of swords clashing reaches your ear. What to do return North to Athens or investigate South?
Combat? • You jump to your feet and creep towards the sound. Crashing through the under growth you come across a training ground on the edge of what looks like a small town. Stunned by the sudden appearance of an outsider the soldiers practising grab you and haul you into the town.
Sparta at Last. • You are thrown at the feet of a King. He welcomes you and instructs you to speak quickly or be put to death. You inform him of your mission. He has this to say…“This is Sparta! We will stand with Athens against this foe.” Restart.
