With engine off, key on, wheels chocked, and parking brake released. Air Brake Check During Engine Start.
Watch that the air pressure doesn’t drop more than 2 psi in 1 minute on a straight truck and not more than 3 psi in 1 minute on a combination vehicle. Air Loss Rate With Brake Off
With brake applied, after the initial loss watch that the air loss rate is not more than 3 psi in 1 minute on a straight truck and not more than 4 psi in 1 minute on a combination vehicle. Apply Foot Brake
Start fanning of the air pressure by rapidly applying and releasing the foot brake. The low air pressure warning alarm should activate before the air pressure drops below 60 psi. Fan off Air Pressure
At approximately 20 to 40 pounds of pressure the spring brake push/pull valve should pop out. This completes the air brake check. Continue to fan off air pressure
