Integrated Algebra/Honors Integrated Algebra Taking a high school credit bearing course at the middle school level What are the course requirements? • Homework – up to ½ hour for IA, up to 1 hour for Honors IA • Quizzes – given on a regular basis with notice • 5 week exams – modeled after regents exams; honors exams will be at a more difficult level • Overall grading policy is in line with the high school • Overall 85 average to remain in honors program at completion of the course

  3. How difficult is the course? • 1st quarter grade – mid 70’s to low 80’s • Challenging problems – requiring various strategies; students may not come up with an answer • Learning how to learn – math has always been easy, some may struggle for the first quarter

  4. Series 1 - quarter 1 Series 2 - final grade Series 3 - Honors x 1.05

  5. What are the keys to success? • Take good notes • Come for extra help • Talk to classmates • Set enough time aside to complete work • Use the internet
