ABOUT THE CHARACTERS • Ida B: Ida B is not a very ordinary girl who lives on a farm/orchard. Everyday she talks to trees, because she believes that the trees talk to her and know what her feelings are. Ida B is also homeschooled • Ida B’s Family: Ida B’s family are pretty ordinary, until one day Ida B’s mom gets cancer, so they have to send Ida B to school. They also have to sell half of the apple orchard and Ida B gets so mad, because her favorite tree is on that side if the apple orchard. • The Trees: The trees in the apple orchard are Ida B’s best friends. Ida tells them everything that happens in her life. • Ida B’s 2 teachers: the first teacher wouldn’t let ida b use her nickname (Ida b) and wouldn’t let her be herself. The second one let her use her nickname and be herself, she also was more understanding. • The new family that buys half of the apple orchard: The family that buys half of the apple orchard ends up to be a girl who is in Ida B’s class and Ida hates her. Her name is Clair.

PROBLEMS • Ida B’s mom gets cancer. • They can’t afford Ida B’s mom’s treatments. • They sell half of the apple orchard. • Clair and her family bye half of the apple orchard. • Ida B’s parents can’t home school her any more.
SOLUTIONS • Ida B’s family sells half of the apple orchard to pay for her moms treatments. • Ida B and Clair become friends. • Ida B’s parents send her to school.
SUMMARY Ida B Applewood is a not so ordinary girl who lives on an apple orchard and talks to the trees, who are her best friends. After being home-schooled, she goes to real school for the first time in 4th grade. Ida hates school and misses the trees. After a few days her parents agree to go back to home-school. Everything is good until her mother gets sick and Ida B has to go back to school. The second time she went to school it was different in a good way!
