  3. Intervention wise physical targets and outlays approved by GOI vis-à-vis achievements made by State during past two years i.e. 2010-11 & 2011-12 State – West Bengal Year – 2011-2012 • Committed expenditure Rs. 607.50 lakh. The works are in progress and will be completed • by 15th May, 2012

  4. Reasons for shortfall in achievements, if any No such shortfall has been found during the year 2010-2011 & 2011-2012 for the state of West Bengal.

  5. Unspent balance available with State as on 1.4.2012 • An amount of Rs. 607.50 lakh is remaining as committed expenditure. All works are in progress and will be completed by 15th May, 2012. • No unspent fund is available with the State.

  6. Impact of the implementation of BGREI in the State • 10 no. of Non-NFSM districts were brought under BGREI. • 67 nos. of 1000 ha. D/C were undertaken (64 – Paddy & 3 Wheat) • Paddy : • Average productivity of the control plot : 2729 Kg. /ha. of Rice • Average productivity of the BGREI plot : 3274 Kg. /ha. of Rice • The highest yield was from Gangajalghati Block of Bankura District : 5.55 Mt./ha. against 3.70 MT/ha. in control • Wheat : • 25% enhancement of yield in Wheat has been reported in Wheat D/C plots • In Malda district the yield from 1ha. area has been reported to be 5.85 Mt.

  7. Status of monitoring of programme by CRRI, Cuttack/other scientists • CRRI Scientist has paid four (4) no. of visit in our state. • SAU Scientist have visited three (3) nos. of districts i.e. Siliguri of Darjeeling district, Malda and Nadia in Kharif. • SAU North Bengal Wheat expert has visited Wheat D/C at Malda. • Director Wheat GOI has visited all the three (3) districts of Wheat D/C namely Malda, Murshidabad and Birbhum

  8. Suggestions, if any with regard to implementation of the programme • State should be provided with flexibility in compact approach i.e. from 1000 ha. to 500 ha. as 90% of the farmers of the state are small & marginal. • Additional support of mobility may be provided from site specific activities for proper supervision. • Also there should be flexibility in asset building. • Some of the fund may be allotted for the production of alternate crops like Maize, Oilseeds etc. • The integrated approach and diverse cropping system be maintained by including a pulse crop in between the two crops to maintain the soil fertility.

  9. Proposed Action plan for 2012-13, if deviated from tentative, reasons there for may be specified • GOI has allotted 201 no. of D/C (Paddy & Wheat of 1000 ha. each) • State Department of Agriculture has proposed for 402 no. of D/Cs, each of 500 ha. as 90% of total state cultivator belongs to small & marginal class, compact D/C of 500 ha. each will help better dissemination of technology. • State has decided to conduct 105 no. of Hybrid Paddy D/C with private bred notified varieties. • For conducting Hybrid Paddy D/C maximum rate of assistance will be Rs. 8817.00 per ha. in place of Rs. 7817.00 per ha. • State has also decided to conduct 35 no. of Wheat D/C.
