  7. Botero was born in Medellin, Colombia in 1932 • He moved to: • Bogotá in 1951 • New York in 1960 • Paris in 1973 (began creating sculptures)

  8. Botero won many prizes and held his first art exhibit in 1951 in Bogotá at the National Salon.

  12. Botero wanted to expand his knowledge about art so he could sculpt and paint better. He also wanted to experiment in different areas of art such as: • Still life • Abu Ghraib series • Pre-Colombian and Spanish colonial That’s why he traveled all over the world.
