3. Every year the GMSPCA provides shelter, care, nutrition and love to thousands of abandoned, lost, homeless and neglected animals.

4. Thank you for offering your help as a member and/or volunteer at the Greater Moncton SPCA. You are an essential part of our team and you bring happiness and hope to the animals. Welcome Members and Volunteers !

We are about the protection and promotion of animal welfare. • We provide programs and services focused on compassion, reality results and service. • We are committed to working with individuals and the communities through educational and other initiatives to promote greater responsibility for animal welfare.

7. Time Commitment? There is no time commitment to do volunteer work with us! There is no set amount of time you need to spend here. You are free to come and go during our business hours, however dogs must be “back home” by curfew time which is 7pm on weekdays and by 4pm on the weekend. Monday to Friday 10:00am – 7:00pm, Saturday and Sunday 12:00pm – 4:00pm Please don’t get me grounded

9. Possible activities • Play with bunnies/guinea pigs. • Walk or play with dogs (green & yellow.) • Take a course to learn how to handle the “orange” dogs • Socialize a cat (check kennel card) • Volunteer at events – Christmas at the Coliseum, Santa Pics, Christmas Wrap, Dog Jog, Curl, Yard Sale, National Cupcake Day, Birthday Parties… • Information sessions and promotions in the community. Please note: the adult has control of the dog

12. Orange Coded DogsFor Safety - your and theirs • Dogs are given an orange code based on the results of their temperament test. • The codes may change overtime. • However, in order to take an orange dog out the following MUST be adhered to: • Look at the special notes and evaluation and make sure you have the strength and ability to “top dog”. • Handler must be an adult( 21 years old). • No children are permitted with an orange dog.

13. Orange dogs are not to be walked with or be near any other dogs. • NO food or toys • Do not engage in rough play. • Poor behavior should NOT be tolerated. • These dogs are ORANGE for a reason. We want to keep both of you safe and give them the best chance possible for a new home.

15. * Your Membership pin MUST be worn at all times. Members must be 16 years old Necessary Safety Rules • Younger Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times. • The adult is the one who needs to take the animal out of the kennel and return it to the same kennel. They also must evaluate the animal to ensure it is the right animal for them. • Check kennel card and color coding for dog information. New members may take out “green” and “yellow” dogs only. • Never take out a pink coded animal or one that does not have a kennel card. • When doing member work at the shelter, please make sure to sign in and out at the members’ corner. • It is very important to read information posted on member board as well as the whiteboard. • Check out an animal on chart in Members” corner so we know where the animal is at all times. • Place your clothespin on the kennel card so staff knows who has the animal. • The staff is not responsible for children or any property or belongings which are on the premises. One adult = One animal=One Room.

16. Be mindful and considerate of our neighbors. At dusk during the Fall and Winter you must wear a safety vest (provided) to ensure everyone's safety. • Poop bags are a must! • All dogs must be looped. • One animal at a time. The exception to this rule would be when there are siblings together in the kennel. • Wash you hands after handling each animal. • Only take out the cats on the list and use the carrier in their • kennel to transport to Cat Room. Control the dog at all times Fresh air, exercise, love, ahhh Freedom!

18. Walking the Dogs • Please keep dogs at least 5 feet apart at all times. If walking with a friend and they have a dog as well, make sure you are between the dogs and they cannot touch.

21. Our #1 priority is finding good homes and getting the animals adopted. People interested in adopting a pet are given priority over members for rooms. • Adopted animals are not to be taken from their kennels as they are waiting to be picked up to go home.
