Objectives of the project • To enhance the PUE students competitiveness in the dynamically changing labour market, • To fulfil the skills and competences gap, • To link theoretical knowledge with business practice, • To adjust educational offer of the university to the needs of the labour market.
Tasks of the project • Supplementary classes in mathematics and physics, • Open lectures given by professionals, • Workshops given by professionals: • workshopson specialist skills, • workshops on soft skills. • Research of the PUE alumni careers, • Internshipsby potential employers, • Extend of the offer of PUE career office, • New course: Economy of tourism.
Supplementary classes in mathematics and physics • Aim of the task - strengthening mathematics knowledge and skills at the upper secondary level, • Type of activities: • courses for all first year full time first degreestudents (excluding Social Policy), • lectures (30h, excludingFaculty of International Business and Economics), • classes (30h). • Practicalresult: • contribute to the personal development of students, • help to provide students with the mathematical knowledge, skills and understanding needed for continuing their education and eventually work, • better math test results (increase from dozen to several dozen percent).
Open lectures given by professionals • Are conducted by business practitioners, • Are offered to all UEP full time students, • Give an opportunity for students to meet business practitioners and to observe business approach to different management processes, • Students may receive ECTS points for participation in these lectures, • 9153 students participated (125 persons/ lecture).
Research of the PUE alumni careers I part: students’ competences in the labour market • The aim of the study: to increase the employability of graduates, • The comprehensive study on the competences of students of the Poznan University of Economics, • The list of students’ competences evaluated by students (self-assessment), faculty members and employers who collaborate with the university (paper and electronic questionnaires), • The list of students’ competences based on the educational effects for social sciences defined for the purpose of the National Qualification Framework, • The study is planned to be conducted every year, the first wave was completed in October, 2012.
Research of the PUE alumni careers II part: Labour market performance of graduates • The aim of the study: to increase the employability of graduates, • Electronic questionnaires sent to all the graduates of the first and the second cycle programmes, • Panel structure: initial brief questionnaires distributed at the time of the graduation. Full questionnaires sent after one, three and five years after graduation, • Information on economic activity, professional mobility, further education, current employment characteristics, competences acquired during education and required at current work, socio-demographic status, • First wave of the survey (with the use of full questionnaires) – autumn 2012.
Internshipsby potential employers • 100 trainees per year, • 180 hours of work in 3 months, • Interesting internships offer – companies from Great Poland, • Well paid internships (21 PLN/hour), • Quarterly recruitment, • Who can apply? • PUE students: • 3rd year of 1st degree (all faculties) • 1st and 2nd year of 2nd degree (all faculties) • PUE alumni (6 months after graduation).

Extend of the offer of UEP careers office • Potential-profile research: • The purpose of testing is to determine students professional skills and their: • competence gaps • strengths • 2 most suitable professions • Number of students: 945 by the end of the project. • Career counselling: • Variety of activities: • consultations and workshops about creating application documents properly, • obligatory consultations about application documents for students applying for internships as part of the “Human resources for the economy” project, • consultations „Preparing for an interview” • professional career advice based on professional, standardized psychological tests
Extend of the offer of UEP careers office • Workshops on soft skills: • Soft skills / interpersonal skills are currently one of the most important professional skills. • Workshops are conducted by trainers practitioners. • Topics: negotiation, time management, interpersonal communication, conflict management, assertiveness etc., • 2011 - 20 workshops, and 12 people each (240 people) • 2012, 2013, 2014 - 35 workshops in each year, and 12 - 14 people each (1260 to 1470 people) • E-learning Courses: • Three-part e-learning courses are a combination of theoretical and practical knowledge based on examples from the businesslife. • 20 e-learning courses are available • Topics: Product management, Project management, Sales techniques, Financial analysis of the company etc.
Extend of the offer of UEP careers office • The internet exchange of theses topics: • The idea of the Exchange is to connect students with companies (institutions) that offer students the opportunity to write their theses on the basis of their companies (institutions). • The Exchange offers students an internet search - a tool for finding descriptions of available theses subjects, problematic to be implemented in specific companies. • Exchange gives students the opportunity to establish long-term cooperation and contact with potential employers. • It is a solution to our knowledge unique in Poland. • At the moment 13 companies are cooperating within this idea (for example AMICA WRONKI S.A, BUKOWIANKA S.A, Nickel Technology Park Poznań Sp. z o.o., Open Nexus Sp. z o. , Poznań Statistical Office)
New course: Economy of tourism • The aim: enrichment of the PUE learning offer, • Bachelor's degree specialties: • touristic enterprise management • regional tourism management • Master’s degree specialty: • international tourism business • Variety of activities: • Electronic Support Center of Touristic EducationThe possibility of using booking systems and software in the field of modern hotel and catering business.
New course: Economy of tourism Variety of activities: • tekstbook for students of economy of tourism – an access to expertise, niche knowledge which is specifically adjusted for the today's job marketCompleted till now: „Tourism in local development," edited by Ewa Łaźniewska • Organization of field studies for students - get to know the practical side of organizing trips for tourist groups, their support and pilot service.Have been completed:31.05 - 04.06.2012 fieldwork took place for first year students of master’s degree, place of departure: Lower Silesia
New course: Economy of tourism Variety of activities: • Library – access to the latest Polish and foreign literature in the fields such as various aspects of the tourism business management, tourism management in the region, the tourism and hospitality business. • Student’s Research Centre EXPLORERS - development of their own interests, complement and improvement of student’s knowledge and skills (meetings with tourism business practices, organization and participation in conferences, field research). • Lectures of Polish and foreign experts - Possibility to confront the theoretical knowledge with practice passed down by the authorities of the tourism industrySo far, the lectures were delivered by:- Andrzej Kozlowski, Director of Sales and Marketing (Naleczow Spa Medical Department), former President of the Polish Tourist Organisation- Prof. Norbert Vanhove, Chairman of the Tourist Research Center, Member of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Tourism in Bruggi (Belgium)- Prof. Dr. Peter Keller, president since 1994 AIEST (International Association of Scientific Experts on Tourism), in 1991-2005 the President of the European Commission, the World Tourism Organization, in 1999-2007, Chairman of the OECD Tourism Comitee
