  9. Tips from the Attendance Team • Enochs is a CLOSED CAMPUS • All Students must be checked out through the Attendance Office • Clear all absences within 7 days • Clear single period absences • Schedule personal appointments outside of the school day

  10. PLACEMENT DETERMINATION FOR REQUIRED COURSES • Class performance in 8th grade • Lexile Results • English • Math

COURSE PLACEMENT OPTIONS • College Prep • Pre-AP/AP Courses • Presentation at 7 PM tonight in the cafeteria • Intervention/Support Classes • ALD (Academic Language Development) • Special Education/RS/Special Day • We are actively collaborating with feeder school special education teachers to help with the transition to high school.

What classes are required for 9th graders? • English: A focus on Common Core Standards—Reading Literature, Reading Non-Fiction Texts, Writing, Speaking and Listening. • Math:A focus on Common Core Standards—Reasoning, Explaining, Modeling, Seeing Structure, using Tools and Generalizing. • Science:A focus on the Next Generation Science Standards—Laying Foundational Concepts and Introduction to Physical Science. • Health:An MCS required course—Alcohol, Tobacco, Drugs, Family, Nutrition, First Aid, Disease, and Mental and Emotional Health. • World Geography & Religions:Examination of the 5 themes of geography and the six major world religions. (AP Geography full year course) • Physical Education: Take the Physical fitness state test, be educated about lifetime benefits of exercise and experience the social benefits of cooperative learning. • Electives: All students need a total of 55 units of electives to earn a diploma.

College Information for Incoming Freshmen • UC/CSU A-G REQUIREMENTS • History/Social Science – 2 years • English – 4 years • Mathematics – 3 years (4 years recommended) • Laboratory Science – 2 years (3 years recommended) • Language Other Than English – 2 years (3 years recommended) • Visual and Performing Arts – 1 year • College Preparatory Elective – 1 year

College Information for Incoming Freshmen • You can take college classes at MJC for free while you are in high • school! • Earn college credits • Get priority registration if you plan on attending MJC • Take courses to earn certification (Welding, Construction, • Automotive) • Can get Guaranteed Acceptance to many 4 year schools by • doing a TAG agreement • Students must apply to MJC and have counselor or administration written approval to take classes.
