As a Freshman (New Student), be sure to: • Establish a solid rapport with your teachers. • Get to know your Principal and Assistant Principals. • Get to know your counselor, let your counselor get to know you. • Know your rights and responsibilities (Handbook). • Know graduation requirements. • Learn the building. • Have a challenging schedule. • Select electives that interest you. • Chose activities that interest you. • Manage your time wisely: Do not overextend yourself. • Listen to the announcements. • Begin thinking about your plans after high school. • Start compiling your extracurricular resume. • Enjoy your freshman year.
TIPS FOR PARENTS: • OPEN COMMUNICATION WITH EVERYONE. • GRADUALLY LET STUDENTS TAKE OVER-FOSTER MORE INDEPENDENCE • ENCOURAGE TO DO BEST • ACCESS INFORMATION CHANNELS • GET INVOLVED.
