  3. Definition • A digital medium consisting of an episodic series of audio*/video files • Users subscribe/download through RSS** or streamed online. *MP3: Widely supported audio codec (CD Quality) **RSS: XML format for syndicating content, which describes audio podcasting software

Why Use it? • Enhance the learner experience – providing more media variety for staff and students ! • Growing belief in it as ‘everyware’ technology; reliable, flexible, easy-to-use, appropriate, highly accessible (Windham, 2007) • To record lectures for revision purposes (flexible delivery) • Interviews with subject specialists • Assisting those with different learning styles and languages? • Voice and presence - opportunities for engagement with online distance learners
