SUNY OER Courses Open Educational Resources (OER) are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits repurposing by others. A SUNY OER course/section provides students a cost effective alternative to traditional textbooks. The majority of materials in this section resides in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits repurposing by others.
Campus Commitment to OER - NYS Funding For fiscal year 2017 – 2018, SUNY was given $4 million by the state of New York to implement Open Educational Resources (OER) in high-enrollment, general education courses. All SUNY campuses are eligible to receive these funds. The criteria for receipt of allocation monies are: Committing to convert a class, or classes, to OER and maintain the use of OER in that course for three years. Developing a sustainability model for OER on your campus. Sharing enrollment and savings data for your OER courses.

SUNY Learning Commons ProjectUpdate:Hooray for a newplatform
Project Overview Current Status Plan for rollout to campuses Campus ideas/feedback
Designed to allow faculty and staffto: • Form and join communities of interest and communities of practice. • Connect with other learners and educators throughout the System. • Share and access scholarly materials, resources, standards, policies, and best practices. • Operate collaborative tools that empower faculty/staff to work together actively at a distance. • Experiment with new communication methods to enhance collaboration throughout the System.
What is Workplace byFacebook? • Private, secure version of Facebook for the SUNY System. • SUNY owns all data, Facebook is just the processor. • SUNY can delete, export, or back up all data that is created. • Integrated with our SSO, so SUNY controls access. • Workplace is free to non‐profits and higher education institutions. • No long‐term commitment on our part if we want to make a change. • Non-SUNY guests can have access to certain groups but it is frequently monitored for safety. 6

Thoughts on CampusImplementation • Over the course of the summer we hope to roll‐out Workplace to all SUNY campuses based on cohorts of 15‐20 campuses. • SUNY Federated Identity Management systems to auto‐provision accounts for any SUNY faculty or staff member that wants to use the platform. • Auto‐provisioning will associate individuals with their campus and place them as members in a couple of default groups. • Campuses, and, in fact, any individual on the platform, will be able to create additional groups and invite participants. • Individuals will be able to participate or not participate in groups as they see fit. 10
ACCESSINGWORKPLACE Single Sign-On use campus credentials Automatically be included in some University Wide Communications Groups Automatically be included in Campus Faculty / Staff Groups
ACCESSING WORKPLACE: CAMPUS REQUIREMENTS Faculty/Staff/Employee ‐ should ask IT people on staff to fill out their eduPersonPrimaryAffiliation • SECteam@suny.edureferral to ITstaff • Assigned campus contact/Admin • Dates to golive • Training ofadmins
