  4. What is Photokan ? • A digital photogrammetry tool • Works on photos taken from unmanned aerial vehicles. • Models the terrain of the photographed area. • Removes the perspective, creating an orthogonally projected image. • Combines intersecting images to create one big picture.

  5. What is Photokan ? • A digital photogrammetry tool • Enhances the quality of the image. • Takes into account the parameters of the cameras that take the photographs • Geographically aligns the images on earth surface, provides spatial coordinates of points on images

  6. Products of Photokan • Digital Elevation Models (DEM) • A height map of the terrain • Orthophotos • Geometrically corrected aerial images • Equivalent of maps • Can be used to measure true distances

  7. Products of Photokan • Mosaics • A combined image of intersecting photos, or frames of a video

  8. Application Areas of Photokan • After disasters • Analyzing the effects of the disaster on earth surface, and creating an emergency plan accordingly. • Military Tactical Operations • Gathering information about critical terrain topology • Police Investigations • Archeological Terrain Surveys etc.

  9. Our Approach • A flexible interface that provides the option of manual intervention • Modular architecture supporting plugins to perform processes • Support for a wide range of input formats

  10. Target Platform • All supplementary libraries are cross platform and platform specific decisions were avoided • Photokan runs on Linux and Windows platforms with all options enabled
