Diamond Powder, Paste, and Dressing Tools: The Industrial Diamonds
It comes as a surprise to many that only 20% of the mined diamonds are sold as whole or used in making ornaments and jewellery items. The remaining 80% are used for industrial purposes. In fact, many of you may not be aware of this but there are several industrial grade diamonds, which are used for polishing the surfaces of various machinery and large equipment. The best example is the Diamond paste. These tool is formed by mixing diamond grit or diamond particles of these stones and liquid. The material so formed used to polish metallic surfaces and even used to polish clothes. A product called as the polishing extender fluid is helpful in evenly distributing the paste on the polishing cloth.
Diamond powder is another commonly used material that is the hardest fabricated substance known to man until now. This is used in various polishing and grinding tasks. There are some services, which cannot be polished with the use of normal powder, thus the use of finely grained particles called polycrystalline particles are used. The diamond powder is not similar to regular mono crystalline particles. The particles in mono crystalline have a flatter shape with a long edge whereas the polycrystalline particle has a spherical shape.
These are the most commonly used Diamond Dressing Tools in various manufacturing industries. These are used to make tools, with grain are fixed on their tip and used for drilling into objects. There are various kinds of diamond cutting and drilling tools, namely, Electroplated tools, Polycrystalline Cutting Tools, Polycrystalline Compacts and Saw Blades.
