  1. When everyone at the wedding admires the diamond necklace that you had worn, you enjoy the admiration, but did you ever pause a moment to think about how the necklace actually came into existence? Not a lot of people take the effort to think about how a rough stone reaches the stage of becoming a carved beauty and most people are not even aware of diamond dressing tools. It is interesting to note that very few people in the world actually know about the diamond industry and how a diamond is cut and used in jewellery, even though several of them actually own the precious stone. Because the diamond is the hardest substance in the world, in order to cut it, you need something just as hard, which is why most often diamonds themselves are used to cut diamonds. In addition, the same diamonds are also used in cutting and chiselling tools meant for hard substances such as granite and marble. And then there is the diamond powder, which is often a residue obtained from cutting diamonds for jewellery designing purposes. When the powder is extremely fine, it finds usage in the beauty industry – the powder has exfoliating properties, which is why it is used in facial and skin scrubs. However, when the powder is a little coarser, then too it finds usage due to its abrasive nature. This coarser powder is used to clean delicate surfaces such as glass, without causing any damage. So, the next time you wear your diamond necklace, spare a second to think beyond just its beauty!
