What I have Mainly Learned • The Main thing I have Learned is how to Predict & Summarize well. • How to be Persuasive, Spelling Unfamiliar Words, Latin Roots, Reading Fluency, Indenting, Punctuation, & how to use graphs/charts. • One Topic that helps me be Persuasive, Predict and Summarize well was debate.
Debate Lessons • Debate has taught me to have an opinion on both sides of a topic. • It also helped me on speech. I have learned to talk faster, (Fluency), and has taught me new words. • Debate is about an emotion you feel supported by evidence. • Debate is Mainly about being Persuasive for the audience wanting to continue with YOUR Plan.
Reciprocal Teaching • In Reciprocal Teaching I have learned how to get Questions, if needed, in the middle of a passage. • If I need to Clarify, I have learned to use detailed words for interesting words. • And if I don’t know how to pronounce a word, I have a Questioning word.
Reciprocal Teaching • I have Learned how to Speak with Reflex. How to switch tones from sad to having the time of my life. • Looking at the pictures and the topic of a Passage has helped me Predict better. If there is an Indian in a Picture, it tells me about ancient times and may include Buffalo.
Reciprocal Teaching • And the Thing that I have learned to do the best in is… Summarizing. • I have learned how Grab the Main Points/Ideas, then add little details to make the Summary Clear. • I am the Best at Summarizing from gathering info in my group.
Being Persuasive • I have Learned how to Be Persuasive Too. (29 out of 30.) • When Writing a Persuasive Paper, you have to have complete thoughts/sentences. • Example: • I loved Laurie as a Friend & Teacher.
Being Persuasive • In Persuasive Writing, you have to Have Organization. • The First Paragraph has your main Point. • The next three sentences are your Supporting Sentences. • The Second Paragraph is Your First Supporting Sentence and Details on that sentence. • So on for the Second & Third Supporting Sentence. • The last paragraph is just saying Your side is what they should want.
Punctuation • Punctuation is the Capitalization, Periods, Question Marks, Exclamation Points, Quotation Marks, & Parenthesis. • Indenting is also important. Indenting is the width of your finger before a paragraph begins. On the computer, the “Tab” button indents your work.
Types of Texts • I have learned new types of Stories and reviewed old ones. • Here is a list of types of Texts I have Learned: • Tall Tales, Biography, Myths, Historical Fiction, Poems, Expository Text, Science Fiction.
Poems • Poems are a Text of a Strong Emotion on a certain Topic. • Poems can Rhyme or Not Rhyme. • They have Periods or not.
Biography • A biography is a story on a Real Person in a Third/Second Person Point of View. • An Auto-Biography is a Real Story written in First Point of View. Which means the story is about the Author.
Spelling/Vocabulary • I found how to learn a word by Re-reading the sentence. • I have to see the ways a word can be used in to make sense. • Example: • I pitched the tent so we could go to sleep. • The Indians would have pitched Huts Together. • I have to find how both words Fit in the Sentences.
Proper Nouns • Proper Nouns are Real Places & People. • Examples: • George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson.
Sequence • Sequence is when you put things in order from Least to Greatest • Example: • Freezing, Chilly, Cold, Warm, Heated, Sweating, Boiling
Myutips • I have also learned about a Test Website called “Myutips.” • This Website not only has helped me spotting the answer to a question, it has trained me to take a test on a computer.
Fluency • Fluency is how many words you can read per minute. • Example: • Sara’s Fluency score is 179 words per Minute. • A way that I can speak faster is read a few word, keep those words in my mind, then say the words. I do this for the entire passage.
The End! Hope I was Clear….
