Deon's Slide School Climate Through Student Eyes By:  Bill Preble and Larry Taylor "By involving students in collaborative action research, school leaders gain vital information to guide school improvement." Sullivan County Schools 96% white student population.  Issues of racism and bullying. Main Street Academix  develops a plan to assess the current racial, social, and academic climate in each of the 30 Sullivan County schools. Differences perceptions of school climate among the various stakeholder groups in his school. In each school, the teachers use the qualitative and quantitative data to sortout the most powerful issues. Teachers and students develop meaningful action steps to address needs indicated by the data. Now in Sullivan County students' overall personal development and academic success has increased, using the data to guid eir decisions and focus groups.
