MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV A brand new technology for Cr(VI) reduction
MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV • Product characteristics: • Low viscosity liquid: the dosage is very easy and precise, even at very low amounts • Shelf storage life: more than 3 months, when stored correctly • Reducing effect on ground cement: minimum 6 months • Dosage: 40-50 g/t of cement for each ppm of Cr(VI) to be reduced • Specific gravity: 1,22 g/cm3 • pH: 9,5±1,5: no acid pH and no corrosive properties • Available also in low freeze grade (stable until -15°C)
MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV How does it work? The MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV is a water suspension of a reducing agent based on antimony(III) (21% active component). The reducing agent is soluble only at very alkaline pH: the Sb3+ is available for Cr(VI) reduction only when cement is mixed with water, and can not be oxidised during cement milling or storage, even at high levels of temperatures and high humidity conditions. The Sb3+ is less acid than Sn2+ or Fe2+, and can not be deactivated after reaction with free lime: the reducing agent is effective also with clinkers with high free CaO content.
MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV: maintenance of the reducing properties Cr(VI) content of cement MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV – 37 g/t·ppm MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV – 43 g/t·ppm
MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV: efficacy of the reducing properties Clinker with 1,78% free CaO.
MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV: example of cost calculation Practical example: cement with 5 ppm of soluble Cr(VI) Target: reduction from 5 to 1 ppm Dosage: 4 ppm · 45 g/t·ppm = 180 g/t Price: 2,2 €/kg Economical impact: 2,2 €/kg · 0,180 kg/t = 0,396 €/t In some cases the MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV can have an impact lower than iron sulfate
MA.P.E./Cr 05 LV: economical advantages in comparison to SnSO4 Dosage: 50 g/t·ppm Dosage: 44 g/t·ppm
