1. Background da TechnoServe • TechnoServe(TNS) is an international nonprofit organization that has been working to build business solutions to poverty since 1968. Our mission in Mozambique is to help entrepreneurial men and women in rural areas to build businesses and employment opportunities for families, their communities and the country. Moageiras Milénio de Moçambique • Moageiras Milénio de Moçambique (MMM), Lda is a social impact enterprise launched by TechnoServe Mozambique that promises to improve traditional community milling through the introduction of an innovative business model-one that promotes local economic development, produces and supplies nutritious products efficiently, and prioritizes the wellbeing of its bottom-of-the-pyramid consumers. 2.3. Goals Achieved • Financial model demonstrates profitability! • Model projects returns to franchisees and franchisor by diversifying services and products. Model is investor-friendly and is being integrated into company operations • Five business line in full operation managed with woman • Production Mill (“Maize-for-Flour”) in Gurue saves urban households time and makes flour more affordable during the lean season • Poultry Feed in Namialo (and soon Manica), focuses on partnerships with input suppliers and providing training/extension to support feed customers (small-scale producers) Namialo Poultry Training Business Solutions to Poverty
2.4. MMM Challenges • Local government bureaucracy; • High interest rates on credit institutions; • Find women in rural areas with capital to start the business; • Reduction of costs for installation of Infra structures. Business Solutions to Poverty
MMM Challenges • Financial model has undergone multiple iterations • Initial model was too complex… Current model balances simplicity (decentralized operations) vs. comprehensiveness • Franchisor model projects profits from franchise fees at scale. However, we are unsure how long it will take to achieve that scale, nor whether franchisees will find the fee structure reasonable Business Solutions to Poverty

MMM Goals for 2014 • Franchisee Expansion: Call for Proposals released and licensees selected Legal and Financial Fundamentals: Franchisee Contract and Business Model finalized • Financing Goals • Negotiated reasonable rates for potential franchises • Finance core MMM operations (HQ) with private investment (debt and equity) • Secure donor funds for Innovation Centre and Poultry Feed components • Formalize MMM franchisee fund and relationships with lenders • Secure minimal donor funds for continued TechnoServe TA role • Established 15 new franchises Business Solutions to Poverty
